With more than 250 employees, members of the Arvada Police Department are committed to providing quality service to the more than 100,000 citizens of Arvada.

Flagship Accreditation Agency

The Arvada Police Department is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), an international organization that sets the standards for excellent policing.

In order to achieve accreditation, Arvada’s department had to meet 459 standards developed by CALEA. Arvada achieved its 8th Accreditation in 2010 and has been accredited for 24 years.

Arvada is now a CALEA Flagship agency, which means our department will be able to guide others through the accreditation process in the years to come.

Policing in Arvada

Arvada has a low crime rate compared to other Denver metro area cities, however no community is immune to crime. That is why the Arvada Police Department focuses on community policing efforts in order to reduce crime and the fear of crime in our neighborhoods.

The Arvada Police Department employs the latest techniques in its investigations. In 2007, four cold case burglaries were re-opened after automated finger print comparisons identified suspects. Our polygraph experts completed 148 examinations in 2007 and assisted the Wheat Ridge Police Department with polygraph examinations as well.
