Arvada Restaurant Waiter Given Summons After Serving Alcohol to Underage Minor (Jan 09)

The Arvada Police Department’s Liquor Licensing Investigator conducted a compliance check at nine Arvada businesses holding liquor licenses in the city on December 17, 2008.

Two 18-year old male Explorer Scouts* served as volunteer buyers, while a sworn police officer assisted in the operation by helping observe the transactions, and by issuing the summons when the volunteer was served.

During the course of the afternoon, an employee of DiCicco's Italian Restaurant at 5660 Olde Wadsworth Blvd. served a beer to one of the volunteers.  The server was issued a summons for selling to a minor.

A Show Cause violation hearing in front of the Liquor Authority will occur February 12, 2009.

About Arvada's Explorer's Post

*Arvada’s Explorer's Post is comprised of young men and women (ages 15-21) who conduct meetings and training to obtain an inside perspective of policing. This hands-on program is a partnership with the Boy Scouts of America and the City of Arvada.

As an Explorer Scout, these young men and women learn about high-risk traffic stops, investigating traffic accidents, marksmanship skills and even participate in ride-alongs with members of the Arvada Police Department.
