Departments - Public Information Officer

The police department is divided into two divisions:   Field Services and Operations.

Each division is further subdivided into bureaus and units. 

Each of the bureaus and units are comprised of members of the department who perform specific functions necessary for the safety and welfare of the citizens of Arvada.

Arvada P.D. Spokesperson Susan Medina

 

The Arvada Police Department employs a professional Public Information Officer (PIO) to respond to all media inquiries from reporters.

Each year PIO Susan Medina responds to more than 1,000 media inquiries, ranging from questions about car accidents, to crimes involving a murder.  

PIO Medina also responds to the scene of crimes where the media are present.  The PIO gathers information from the investigating officers at the scene.  The PIO then liaisons with the on-scene reporters by providing information, conducting on-camera interviews, and facilitating the media's ability to gather a news story.

In addition to addressing media inquiries, PIO Medina produces Cop Talk, a monthly television show about the department.  She additionally writes news releases and newsletters, and promotes various programs and projects of officers.

As the spokesperson for the Arvada Police Department, Susan Medina has numerous duties.

Susan Medina comes to the Arvada Police Department from the Federal Emergency Management Agency where she served as a Disaster Assistance Employee. She traveled to disaster sites throughout the country providing public information regarding federal assistance to citizens affected by disasters.
