Departments - Training

The police department is divided into two divisions:   Field Services and Operations.

Each division is further subdivided into bureaus and units. 

Each of the bureaus and units are comprised of members of the department who perform specific functions necessary for the safety and welfare of the citizens of Arvada.

The Training Unit is responsible for coordinating all training attended by members of the police department. Much of this training is provided internally through roll-call training, skill training (firearms and arrest control) and classroom training utilizing one of the department’s many subject matter experts. Where needed, members attend outside classes and conferences to stay abreast of the newest techniques in policing.

In addition to overseeing the training for members of the department to ensure they have the skills necessary to complete their assignment, the Arvada Police Department is committed to quality training for career development and enhancement. To meet these objectives, staff attends more than 11,000 hours of training each year.
