Mail Theft Ring Results in $100,000 in Losses

It’s believed at least two suspects are involved in nearly two dozen mail theft incidents in the Arvada area.
It’s suspected the suspects transacted computer generated, fraudulent
checks at a number of Denver-area businesses and U.S. Post Offices.
Investigators suspect the mail theft
ring has been operating for nearly seven months in the Denver Metro
area, Wyoming, Utah, California and New Mexico.
If you have information, call the U.S. Postal Inspectors hotline at 303-313-5311. The U.S. Postal inspectors are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction.
Crime Prevention Tip
To avoid becoming a victim of mail theft, people should avoid sending checks from the mailbox at your home or apartment. It is suggested people use secure, blue postal boxes at located post offices or throughout the community to mail items containing checks.
