(Point) .5k Endurance Challenge Sets Record for Ralston House
With hundreds of runners and dozens of
sponsors, the event raised a record-breaking $14,000 for Ralston House
locations in Arvada and Lakewood.
The event was filled with lots of fun
and food from free pancakes to chair massages to characters of all shapes
and sizes including the cast from the Wizard of Oz.
"We greatly appreciate the support of
the community in coming together to raise money for this very worthy
cause," said Donald Moseley, executive director of Ralston House.
Ralston House is a non-profit organization
that works in conjunction with law enforcement, social services and
the district attorney's office to provide a friendly and safe place for
children who have been sexually or physically abused to tell their stories
and help them to begin the healing process. Ralston House provides a
professional staff specially trained to interview children and offer
support to families.
More than 470 kids and teens have visited Ralston House so
far in 2010, an increase of 15% compared to last year at this time.
“We hate to see such large numbers
of kids affected by abuse, but the services offered at Ralston House
will help them and their families begin the journey of healing,” said
Moseley.
