Promotion, Awards Celebrated at Arvada PD
Local service clubs recognized two Arvada police officers and civilians while another officer was promoted to sergeant in late February.
Promotion: Officer Chris Rivera
Chris Rivera was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Sgt. Rivera is currently assigned to one of the late night patrol teams.
2009 Service Club Awards
Officer Matt Archuleta was honored by the Clear Creek Optimist Club for his accomplishments through his entire 20-year career with the Arvada Police Department. In addition to Officer Archuleta's superior officer skills, he is also one of the first Drug Recognition Experts in the Metro area. He's frequently called upon as a subject matter expert in this area. He is also heavily involved in the State's Standard Field Sobriety Testing Program. He is frequently consulted by our own officers and other agencies, as well as the District Attorney's Office due to his expertise. He remains one of the most highly-regarded experts on this subject in the region, and is the department's lead DUI Instructor.
Records Specialist Donna Preston received the Civilian of the Year award from the Clear Creek Optimist Club. Donna was recognized for her outstanding service to Arvada citizens through her work as a member of the Arvada Police Department's Records Unit. Donna has continually strived to enhance her leadership skills and took on Records lead responsibilities to include: mentoring, coaching and assisting with the restructuring of Records. She is frequently called upon to assist patrol and dispatch with CCIC related questions.
Officer Trent Saathoff is one of the newest members of the Arvada Police Department (hired in July of 2008) and was recently honored by the Lake Arbor Optimist Club as Officer of the Year. Officer Saathoff received the recognition based on his exemplary work in identifying a bank robbery suspect fleeing from the scene of the crime and making the traffic stop and subsequent arrest of the suspect. His quick-thinking actions and professionalism in response to this incident represents his commitment to outstanding policing.
