Two Shot at New Year’s Party in Arvada
Two men were shot at a New Year’s party in the Lake
Arbor area just after 2 a.m. on January 1, 2010.
Arvada police officers were called to
a condominium complex in the 6400 block of West 80th Drive
on a report of a fight among partygoers and that two people had been
shot.
The victims were taken to an area hospital
where they are being treated for their injuries and are expected to survive. The victims are both
men from Denver, ages 23 and 21. Their names are not being released.
The suspect fled the scene following
the shootings. Later in the afternoon on New Year's Day, Francisco Ornelas, age 20, of Thornton was arrested on two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Members of the Arvada Police Department
interviewed more than a dozen young adults attending the party while
criminalists processed the crime scene in the early morning hours of
January 1st, 2010.
Ornelas is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
