(Arvada, CO) – Arvada Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three individuals involved in pickpocketing an 80-year-old woman.
On July 30, the elderly female was shopping at the Natural Grocers located at 7745 Wadsworth when she was approached by two men, possibly of Middle Eastern descent. One of them asked the victim for help in determining the cost of a gallon of milk, distracting her while the other accessed her purse and stole her credit cards.
After her contact with the suspects, the victim continued shopping and did not realize her credit cards had been stolen until she went to pay for her groceries. By the time the victim realized what had happened, the cards had been fraudulently used at a nearby Target and Walgreens for gift cards totaling more than $5000.
A female is seen with the two men in surveillance video using the cards. She is also described as being of Middle Eastern descent, 5’6” – 5’8”, slender build and long, straight black hair.
The two male suspects are described as being between 20-30 years of age and of Middle Eastern decent.
"We want to remind residents to keep their purses or wallets nearby and never leave them unattended," said Detective Burhorn of the Arvada Police. "Criminals are looking for any moment of inattention as is evidenced by this case. Victims can lose thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges in a matter of minutes."
Anyone who recognizes the suspects are asked to contact the Arvada Police Department at 720.898.6900.
