UPCOMING CHANGES TO THE

ENGINEERING PERMIT AND INSPECTION SCHEDULING PROCESS

 

BEGINNING ON MONDAY, AUGUST 4, 2014, ENGINEERING PERMITS (GENERAL AND UTILITY PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT PERMITS) WILL REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS FOR PROCESSING.  PERMITS THAT ARE MORE COMPLEX OR INCLUDE MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, ETC. MAY REQUIRE UP TO 48 HOURS FOR PROCESSING. FULLY COMPLETED PERMIT APPLICATIONS AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION, INCLUDING TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS, IF NECESSARY, CAN BE DROPPED OFF AT THE CITY OF ARVADA ENGINEERING DIVISION, 2ND FLOOR, 8101 RALSTON ROAD AND THE APPLICANT WILL BE NOTIFIED AS SOON AS THE PERMIT IS READY.

ALSO BEGINNING ON AUGUST 4, 2014, SCHEDULING FOR RIGHT-OF-WAY INSPECTIONS WILL BE ON-LINE ONLY. THIS WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH  WWW.ARVADAPERMITS.ORG 

*INCOMPLETE PERMIT APPLICATIONS AND TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

 

Engineering is responsible for the development and implementation of the standards for street construction, utility work and storm water drainage on all projects in the city.

All work within the City's streets is regulated and inspected by the Engineering Division. Contractors and utility companies working in the street are required to be licensed by the City and have a permit and approved traffic control plan for the work they are doing.

Floodplain management is also a responsibility of the Engineering Division. The City's goal in floodplain management is to reduce the risk to life and property during floods. There is a Flood Protection Handbook available for free that can be picked up at City Hall.
