Cyber Crime

Crime is changing. Although "traditional" crimes such as car thefts, burglaries and assaults are still prevalent, crimes involving computers and other technologies are on the rise. Because of the increase in crimes involving technology, the Arvada Police Department assigned a detective to the function of investigating cyber crimes.

Computer crimes involve a lengthy and oftentimes complex investigation. The detective analyzes the internal workings of a computer to collect evidence and build a case against a suspect involving in criminal activity.

The cyber crime detective currently utilizes a lab in Douglas County where he conducts the technical components of an investigation along with other specialists in the field.
