Public Information Officer
The department employs a professional Public Information Officer (PIO) to respond to all media inquiries from reporters. Each year Susan Medina responds to more than 1,000 media inquiries ranging from questions about car accidents to crimes involving a murder. In addition to responding to media inquiries, the PIO is also dispatched to the scenes of crimes where the media are present to facilitate the needs of reporters.
In addition to addressing media inquiries, the PIO produces Cop Talk, a monthly television show about the department, writes news releases and newsletters and promotes various programs and projects of officers.
As the spokesperson for the Arvada Police Department, Susan Medina has numerous duties.

Susan Medina comes to the Arvada Police Department from the Federal Emergency Management Agency where she served as a Disaster Assistance Employee. She traveled to disaster sites throughout the country providing public information regarding federal assistance to citizens affected by disasters.
