School Resource Officer Blaine Engdahl - Ralston Valley High School
Officer Blaine Engdahl began his career with the Arvada Police Department in 1988. He has worked in the traffic unit as a motorcycle officer. He teaches several topics to police officers as well. to include Radar and Laser. Officer Engdahl was a D.A.R.E. officer for two years and taught in the Arvada elementary schools.
In the Fall of 2005, Officer Engdahl was assigned as a School Resource Officer for Ralston Valley High School. Officer Engdahl says that the best part of his assignment is its ability to interact with the kids.
He believes it's important that, "They get to see that the police don't just write tickets and arrest people." SRO Engdahl attends sporting events, their band performances, and choir concerts in addition to his regular duties at the school. He states, "They see me in those other settings and they realize that this is not just a job to me. I don't just see them during regular school hours." Some of the best parts of his day are when the kids come by his office "just to talk."
