School Resource Officer Jim Glasmann - North Arvada Middle School

Officer Jim Glasmann is Arvada Police Department's most tenured School Resource Officer. He started his police career at the Adams County Sheriff's Department in 1973. Officer Glasmann began with the Arvada Police Department in 1977. He has worked a variety of assignments from the Special Investigations Unit, traffic, patrol, as well as his current assignment - School Resource Officer.

Officer Glasmann was there at the beginning, when Arvada Police Department first introduced SROs into the high schools and middle schools. He has worked at Pomona High School from 1996 to 2004, where he rotated out of the assignment, per the department policy. He went back to the patrol division and then reapplied to return to the schools. He was assigned the next open position, which was North Arvada Middle School. Officer Glasmann begins his second year there and is passionate about providing these children a safe learning environment.

SRO Glasmann states, "I love being an SRO, as it brings you close to the students in our community. They now have an interaction with a police officer being a positive influence in their life. I just like the challenge of being someone that kids can go to, confide in, or correct when they've done wrong. It's still the hardest job I've ever loved."
