Police Visit Arvada Schools

<p style=""LINE-HEIGHT: "><span style=""FONT-FAMILY: ">Several members of the Arvada Police Department visited nearly two dozen Arvada schools to welcome students back to classes on August 22, 2007.

<p style=""LINE-HEIGHT: "><span style=""FONT-FAMILY: ">While officers stood side-by-side with principals and school staff on the first day of school, there is a police presence during the entire year through the School Resource Officer program.

<p style=""LINE-HEIGHT: "><span style=""FONT-FAMILY: ">Created in 1996, the program has grown to include officers assigned to each of the city’s middle and senior high schools along with special programs designed to provide safety education to elementary students.

<p style=""LINE-HEIGHT: "><span style=""FONT-FAMILY: ">The Arvada Police Department has fostered an outstanding relationship with Jefferson County Schools, residents living near the schools and area businesses. The department helps with issues impacting the quality of life in these neighborhoods.

<p style=""LINE-HEIGHT: "><span style=""FONT-FAMILY: ">“The relationship between the police department and the school community is critical,” said Police Chief Don Wick. “It’s important students and parents know that the police department is involved with their school, and remains committed to school safety.”
