Tips generated from surveillance video played by media outlets of the Arvada Diamond Shamrock gas station robbery on Friday, May 16, led to the arrest of Joseph R. Espinoza (top photo) DOB/8-26-83. Espinoza turned himself into Arvada Police on June 4 around 5 PM after learning police wanted to question him about his role in the robbery. Espinoza is being charged with Kidnapping and Robbery. He was wearing the blue thong. Cross and tribal tattoos were on Espinoza.

Joaquin Rico (bottom photo) DOB/12-30-88 turned himself into Wheat Ridge Police June 6, around 5 PM. Rico is being charged with Kidnapping and Robbery.

Robbery Summary:

Two crooks tried to disguise their identities by covering their faces with women’s thong underwear during a robbery of an Arvada Diamond Shamrock gas station (6802 Wasdworth Blvd.) on Friday, May 16 just before 5:00 a.m.

It’s believed two Hispanic men entered the business with the brightly colored underwear over their faces and demanded cash from the clerk on duty.

The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. They were not armed during the robbery.

Suspect 1 (wearing the green thong over his face) - Hispanic male in his early 20’s. He’s 6’ tall and weighs between 160 and 180 pounds. He has short black hair and was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt, blue jeans and dark shoes.

Suspect 2 (wearing the blue thong over his face) – Hispanic male in his early to mid 20’s. He’s between 5’ 8” to 5’ 10”, 180 to 200 pounds. He has short black hair. He has a cross tattoo (6” in height) on his right upper arm and a tribal tattoo on his left upper arm.
