Nineteen businesses ‘passed the test’ on Thursday, November 17. Members of the Arvada Police Department conducted a liquor license compliance check in the city. A worker at each business contacted requested identification from an 18-year-old Arvada Police Explorer (Brian Schilly) and refused to sell alcohol to him when he could not produce ID for proof of age.  

Other members of the Arvada Police Department assisted in the inspection.

Once the check was successfully completed, Investigator Bennett congratulated each of the businesses refusing to sell alcohol to the minor.  A commendation letter will also be sent to the businesses in the coming days.

“I believe we have one of the most effective liquor license programs in the state due in large part to the outstanding work of Investigator Bennett,” said Deputy Chief Lynn Johnson. “She is extremely pro-active in her efforts to stress education to the city’s liquor license holders, and works closely with them to ensure employees fully understand their responsibilities when selling alcohol in Arvada.”

The businesses contacted in the November 17 compliance operation primarily included convenience stores and grocery stores as follows:
