Corporal Ted Bogdanovich, a 26-year veteran of the Arvada Police Department, was named Law Officer of the Year by Lake Arbor Optimist Club at a breakfast held on Tuesday, January 25, 2005.

Bogdanovich has guided the Arvada Police Department through three of its six national accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in the past six years.

Corporal Bogdanovich retired last week (January 20) from a police career with the Arvada Police Department spanning more than 26 years. Bogdanovich was initially hired in 1978 as a patrol officer. He worked patrol and then transferred to the Special Investigations Unit where he spent seven years working as an undercover investigator. After a two-year period working as a patrol Corporal in the early 90’s, Bogdanovich was assigned as a Corporal in the Accreditation and Staff Inspections Unit.

In that capacity, Bogdanovich has guided the Arvada Police Department through three accreditation processes. Bogdanovich recently concluded his third accreditation on-site process that will ultimately bring the police department’s sixth accreditation award. That accreditation award will be bestowed on the department at the Birmingham, AL conference in March 2005.

“Ted has been the driving force behind the department’s outstanding efforts for the past eight years,” said Chief Ron Sloan of the Arvada Police Department. “I’m sincerely appreciative of Ted’s efforts and commitment to maintaining the department’s level of compliance mandated by CALEA.”
