Arvada Apartment Evacuated Following a Suspicious Incident

One building in the Arvada Green apartment complex (7569 West 72nd Avenue) was evacuated following a suspicious incident in the evening hours of April 4, 2006.

Police were called to the apartment complex located at 72nd and Wadsworth following a suspicious persons report. Statements from witnesses indicated that two men who had been evicted from an apartment in the complex made threatening statements, and possibly had a gas can with them at the time the statements were made.

The two men had left the area prior to the arrival of police.

Based on the statements apparently made by the men, the building where the apartment in question was located was evacuated at approximately 8:30 p.m.

About 40 people were evacuated from their homes while police and members of the fire department ensured that the apartment was safe.

The two men were later contacted and denied making any type of threatening statements. One of the men was arrested for outstanding warrants while the other was questioned and released.

Evacuated residents were able to return to their homes after about thirty minutes.
