A man attempting to pass a forged check in the King Soopers located at 9731 W. 58th Avenue brandished a handgun after being contacted by store employees who were trying to detain the him just after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday February 23, 2005.

A perimeter was set and Arvada police officers joined by a K-9 unit from the department along with a K-9 unit from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office began searching the area around the store and the neighborhood to the south of the King Soopers.

Police were unable to locate the suspect after a lengthy search of the area.

A reverse 911 message was sent to the neighborhood alerting residents of the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25 years of age, 5’7 “ with brown hair and brown eyes and weighing 150 lbs. He was wearing a dark blue shirt and dark jeans. The suspect also had a goatee.
