Cat Burglar Strikes Again in Arvada

Arvada police responded to the 6000 block of Terry Lane on a report of a man at the back door of a home in the area just before 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 2, 2005.

Although the description of the man at the door is vague, the actions match that of the suspect called the "Cat Burglar" who is allegedly responsible for dozens of break ins in Arvada, Jefferson County and a number of other areas in the northwest portion of the Denver metro area.

Roughly 15 Arvada police officers (including a K9 Unit) and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies set a perimeter; however, a suspect has not been identified at this point.

Police area asking residents in the area of the botched break-in to call police at 720.898.6900 if they spot any kind of evidence the suspect may have left behind.

As a reminder, police ask residents to remember to close and lock their doors and windows before they go to sleep at night.

Additional Information as of 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 02, 2005:

During the course of the perimeter search involving both the Arvada Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, an individual was seen running, which prompted another perimeter in the area of 60th and McIntyre. In that search, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies made four arrests.

Additional investigation by the Arvada Police Department showed that there were a two burglaries and one attempted burglary in the area of the 6000 block of Terry Lane early this morning. Homeowners in the area are asked to check their belongings to ensure nothing is missing or to determine if there were additional attempted break-ins.
