Arvada police are investigating a traffic accident that led to the death of a motorcyclist just before 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it’s believed the driver of a 4-door sedan was heading southbound on Wadsworth Blvd., and attempted to turn eastbound (or left) into the Safeway parking lot near 80th Avenue and apparently collided with a motorcyclist traveling northbound on Wadsworth Blvd.

The man driving the motorcycle, 20 years of age from Arvada, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic was backed-up in both directions while officers investigated the scene; however, there were no significant road closures as a result of the accident.

Police are investigating the incident and will release more details at a later time.

The name of the motorcyclist is not being released pending family notification.
