Young Adults Have Avenue to Pursue Law Enforcement Career

Are you between the ages of 15 and 21? Are you interested in a career in law enforcement? Then the Arvada Police Department has a program for you. The Explorer’s Post is comprised of young men and women who come together one night each week to get a hands-on look at policing.

As an Explorer you will learn about high-risk traffic stops, investigating traffic accidents, marksmanship skills and even participate in ride-alongs with members of the Arvada Police Department.

In addition to the numerous training opportunities offered, the Explorer Scouts make a valuable contribution to the Arvada Police Department and the city of Arvada through their volunteer work on tasks like deployment of the SMART Trailers in areas with speeding issues and the assistance they provide at various functions such as the Fourth of July Celebration, St. Anne’s Bazaar and the Arvada Center Craft Show.

Planning to attend college? As an Explorer you are eligible to apply for a scholarship through the W. Michael Northey Foundation and other scholarships.

For more information about the department’s Explorer’s Post, call 720.898.6849.
