Tuesday, August 1, marks the day Arvada residents are asked to turn on their porch lights to turn off crime during National Night Out.

As in years past, the Arvada Police Department encourages residents to host a community barbecue or other event to help promote National Night Out.

If a citizen wants assistance in organizing a National Night Out event, they should call police volunteer Marilyn Maring at 720-898-6620 for more information.

“We would love to have an officer visit an Arvada National Night Out celebration to encourage residents to work together to not only report crime occurring in their neighborhoods but also to get to know the people we serve,” said Sgt. Shelly Moriarty of the Arvada Police Department.
