Gray Haired Bandit Sought in Arvada Carjacking
Arvada police are looking for a suspect in a carjacking at the King Soopers located at 80th and Sheridan at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21.
As a 50-year-old Westminster woman finished placing groceries in her 1998 Kia, when the suspect, Sammy E. French Jr., (DOB: August 27, 1952) showed a handgun and demanded the keys to her car. French drove from scene in a southwesterly direction.
The victim was uninjured during the car jacking.
French is described as a white male, six foot tall, weighing 265 pounds.
French is in possession of the victim’s 1998 Kia (4-door), bluish/purple in color with Colorado license plate SBH 6604.
French is armed with a black handgun, and is considered to be armed and dangerous.
French has been linked to bank robberies in Colorado Springs and the Denver Metro area, and has been dubbed the Gray-Haired bandit by law enforcement. There are warrants out for his arrest in both Jefferson and El Paso counties.
Note: French was arrested and is currently awaiting trial on numerous charges.
