The ABBA Experience!

Western Federation of Watercolor Societies' 32nd Annual Exhibition
Co-produced by the Arvada Center and the Colorado Watercolor Society, this exhibition features artists from nine watercolor organizations west of the Mississippi. This year, the exhibit is juried by the internationally-renowned watercolor artist John Salminen. John is a signature member of many watercolor societies and has won more than 125 awards in both national and international exhibitions, including the American Watercolor Society Gold Medal in 2006 and the National Watercolor Society Silver Star (first place) in 2005.

16th Annual Colorado Watercolor Society's State Watermedia Exhibition
This exhibition features watercolor paintings from local Colorado artists and will be juried by another well-known national artist, Carole Barnes. Carole's recent work is based on her intrigue with mythology, symbols and ancient times and places. A member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society, Carole has received numerous awards in national juried shows and has been featured in many books and magazines.

Arvada Center Classes, Camps and Workshops
A variety of classes, camps and workshops for both children and adults are available year-round at the Arvada Center. Participants learn about the performing arts, visual arts and humanities. Sessions run from one day to 10 weeks. Some courses are available for college credit through Red Rocks Community College.

ARVADA CENTER PLAYGROUND
A 343-foot-long "sea-saurus" named Squiggles is the featured element of the Arvada Center's playground. Squiggles - who was named Best Sea Monster by Westword - is a multi-colored, multi-textured concrete sculpture. Kids can explore Squiggles by climbing around, over and under him. The playground also includes a large sand box with three additional concrete sculptures and trashcans that talk back when garbage is placed in them. Squiggles is wheelchair accessible and his various textures offer a tactile experience for blind children. The playground is open every day.
