Arvada Launches 2013 Neighborhood Grants

Arvada Launches 2013 Neighborhood Grants

Do you have an idea that will help your neighbors connect or improve your neighborhood? The City of Arvada is beginning the third year of its neighborhood grant program. As one of the City Council’s top goals to strengthen and revitalize the City’s neighborhoods, the City encourages Arvada residents to apply.

Two types of grants are available:

1. Know Your Neighbor Grants - these small, $100 grants are available for improving neighborhood relations/communication. They are intended to facilitate people getting together and building relationships at events such as block parties, event kick-offs, neighborhood clean ups, holiday celebrations, ice cream socials or other functions involving the building of connections between neighbors.  The Know Your Neighbor Grants may be applied for at any time during the year - HOWEVER, they will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until the allocated funding is depleted.

2. Neighborhood Improvement Grants - for more substantial projects that may include physical improvements, programs, or activities, these grants may be up to $10,000 each. Qualifying projects must include neighbors working together and a match by neighbors of at least 25% of project cost, with 15% of the match being provided in the form of donated labor.  Neighborhood Improvement Grant applicants are required to schedule a pre-application conference before submitting their final application. Neighborhood Improvement Grant applications are due on or before March 15, 2013.  The City anticipates that grants will be awarded to grant recipients by early May 2013.
