Arvada Man Hit with Hammer During Car Jacking

Arvada police are investigating an early morning car jacking occurring in the 6300 block of Xavier Ct. just after 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011.

A 50-year-old man was backing his Toyota Tundra from the driveway of his home when occupants in a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee blocked him in and prevented the man from leaving.

Two armed Hispanic male suspects confronted the victim and demanded cash. After obtaining the victim's wallet, one of the suspects struck the male victim with a hammer. The victim did not require medical treatment.

The suspects then fled the area in the Jeep Cherokee and to the victim's truck; however, the suspect driving the Toyota got stuck on a patch of ice a short distance from the home.

The Toyota truck was abandoned and the suspects drove from the area in the Jeep.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males in their early 20s. One had a slender build and was wearing a sweatshirt. The other suspect, also reportedly wearing a sweatshirt, had a medium build.

Arvada Police continue to investigate.
