The Marshal is responsible for Courtroom security, to include maintaining peace and order in the Courtroom and screening persons entering the Courtroom for weapons and potential weapons. Firearms, knives, explosives, aerosol irritants, martial arts weapons, and handcuffs and handcuff keys are prohibited in the courtroom. Other items may be considered weapons or potential weapons and may be prohibited at the discretion of the Court.
The Marshal also arrests defendants sentenced to jail by the Judge and conducts record checks of Court files for individuals and agencies. The Marshal conducts warrant follow-up, to track down defendants who fail to appear for hearings or fail to comply with the Court's orders.
