Arvada Police Investigate Attempted Car Jacking During Evening Rush on Nov. 18

Arvada police are investigating an attempted car jacking that sent one man to the hospital with a gunshot wound during the evening rush on November 18, 2010.

The male victim was waiting at the stoplight at the intersection of 77th Avenue and Wadsworth Blvd. when an unidentified male suspect entered his vehicle. In the struggle to gain control of the victim’s Chevy Tahoe, the victim was shot.

During the struggle, the driver of the Tahoe entered the intersection (from eastbound 77th Avenue onto Wadsworth) and struck a Suburban traveling northbound on Wadsworth Blvd. No one was injured in the crash.

The male suspect ran from the Tahoe and fled the scene in a white sedan. Police are searching for the suspect.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Wadsworth Blvd. was closed for more than two hours while police investigated the scene.
