Arvada Police Officer Norton Named Officer of the Year by Lake Arbor Optimists

Officer Cristal Norton received the honor of Officer of the Year by the Lake Arbor Optimist Club in January, 2011.

This three-year veteran of the Arvada Police Department was honored for her exemplary work as a police officer specifically related to a burglary investigation that led to multiple arrests.

In November of last year, Officer Norton responded to a vacant home on a call that the residence had been burglarized. The investigation led the officer to believe a homeless person may have been involved in the crime.

In the days that followed, Officer Norton contacted several homeless individuals in the city.  Through her investigation, she was able to solve the burglary at the vacant home as well as an unrelated trespass crime committed by another individual.

"This is but one example of the type of dedication, professionalism and work ethic Officer Norton brings to the citizens of Arvada on a daily basis," said Commander Jim Keating. "I am thrilled the Lake Arbor Optimist Club recognized Officer Norton's commitment to outstanding policing and named her Officer of the Year."
