Arvada police are investigating a robbery at the Walgreen's drug store located at 80th and Wadsworth in the morning hours of Saturday, February 12, 2011.
Police believe an unidentified suspect approached the pharmacist at the Arvada location just after the pharmacy area of the store opened at 9 a.m. He demanded pain medication from the 41-year-old employee.
The suspect did display a handgun during the aggravated robbery. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of the highly-addictive medication, the suspect fled the scene.
The type of medication and quantity stolen is being withheld because
it's considered an investigative key at this point in the investigation.
The estimated value of the medication is in the thousands of dollars.
He is described as either a white or Hispanic male, approximately 20 years of age with an average build. He was wearing a dark-colored hoodie at the time of the robbery.
Police believe this same suspect may be connected to a similar crime at a Walgreen's in Wheat Ridge.
Investigators from Arvada and Wheat Ridge are working together to identify this individual, who is considered armed and dangerous.
