The Arvada Historical Society was organized August 24, 1972.
Over the years its efforts resulted in the birth of the Arvada Center, and the restoration of the Arvada Flour Mill. The Society helped secure State and National Historic Designations for Olde Town Arvada, and urged the dedication of Gold Strike Park to commemorate the Lewis Ralston gold discovery of 1850.
In 2002 Olde Town Arvada received designation as a Colorado Main Street Community by the Colorado Community Revitalization Association, helping further efforts to revitalize Olde Town and the surrounding neighborhoods. And the Society has written a number of books chronicling Arvada's rich history, to make sure it is not lost for generations to come.
