Councilor on Your Corner: Visioning the Future of Arvada

Councilor on Your Corner: Visioning the Future of Arvada

The Arvada Comprehensive Plan is the City’s guiding policy document with respect to how the community should develop in the future. This meeting will discuss the issues facing the City of Arvada and encourage attendees to share their vision for Arvada’s future. Please attend the next “Councilor on Your Corner,” hosted by Arvada City Mayor Pro Tem Rachel Zenzinger beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, at the Indian Tree Golf Course Club House, 7555 Wadsworth Boulevard, Arvada.

The next Councilor on Your Corner will feature guest presenter, Kevin Nichols, Senior Planner. He will review the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan and how changing economic and demographic conditions as well as future issues facing the City are taken into account.  This plan establishes policies that have a direct bearing on the future of Arvada. The Comprehensive Plan guides city-wide land use changes, investments in public facilities and services, and future regulations and City programs. The plan is being updated over the next year and Nichols will present several opportunities for public participation during this process.

The Councilor on Your Corner meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., and it is open free of charge to all members of the public. Zenzinger, who serves as Mayor Pro Tem, has represented Arvada’s District 1 for more than two years.

As always, Zenzinger will invite visitors at the event to direct questions to the guest speaker, and she will encourage discussion on other current issues that are uppermost in the minds of Arvada residents.

While her Councilor on Your Corner series is designed to facilitate interaction between Arvada residents and their elected representative, Zenzinger is available to answer questions throughout the year via email at rzenzinger@arvada.org. Residents can also follow Zenzinger on Twitter (@Zenzinger_AtoZ) as she describes her activities and observations in connection with her duties as an elected official.

Zenzinger was elected in November 2009 to serve as a member of the Arvada City Council representing District 1, which is generally described as the northeast part of Arvada from approximately 74th Avenue north to 88th Avenue, and from Sheridan Blvd. west to Kipling; and the area south of Standley Lake to Simms. She became Mayor Pro Tem in November 2011. Currently Zenzinger is running unopposed for reelection in District 1.

Her Councilor on Your Corner series is a quarterly event, occurring the second Tuesday of April, July, October and January. Anyone with suggestions about important topics to be covered at Councilor on Your Corner should contact Council Member Zenzinger directly.
