Help Stop Child Abuse: Sponsor a Pinwheel for the Ralston House Pinwheel Garden

While you may be busy working in your gardens to welcome spring, there's a garden that's set to be in full bloom in April.

Ralston House has teamed with Arvada's K-8 School, 5751 Balsam Street, to plant a pinwheel garden on April 12 and you can be part of this special event.

Brilliant blue pinwheels can be purchased to be planted to honor children who were served at Ralston House in 2010 due to allegations of sexual abuse, physical abuse or neglect.

Each pinwheel planted in the garden represents one child served at Ralston House in 2010 which equates to more than 800 pinwheels.

"Seeing the number of pinwheels representing children who've been abused is heartbreaking, but we want to bring awareness of the extent of child abuse in this community, and that Ralston House staff is working hard to help families on the road to recovery," said Don Moseley, Executive Director of Ralston House.

The public is invited to attend this groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 beginning at 10 a.m. More than 20 students from Arvada's K-8 will plant the pinwheels.

To sponsor a pinwheel to be planted you can visit RalstonHouse.net or stop by Police Administration at Arvada City Hall, 8101 Ralston Rd.

Sponsorship pinwheels are $5 for one pinwheel or $10 for three pinwheels.

April marks Child Abuse Prevention Month.
