High School Drug Sweep on April 13

At the request of the Jefferson County School District, police K-9 teams conducted scheduled contraband sweeps at Pomona and Arvada West high schools in Arvada on Wednesday, April 13, 2011.  

School administrators and K-9 teams searched selected classrooms and vehicles in the student parking lots of Pomona High School in the morning and Arvada West High School in the afternoon. 

According to Arvada Police seven summonses for narcotics violations were issued between the two schools with additional follow-up to take place in the coming days. 

Other high schools in the Jefferson County School District have conducted similar sweeps in the past. 

In addition to Arvada, other police K-9 teams participating in the search were from Brighton, Broomfield, Commerce City, Denver Sheriff’s Department, Thornton and Westminster.
