The National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) honored the winners of the 27th Annual Government Programming Awards (GPA) this fall in New Orleans, LA. The awards program honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. This year, NATOA received more than 650 entries submitted by local governments across the United States and Canada.
The City of Arvada submitted 13 entries last March and went through the judging process in June. In July it was announced that Arvada's Channel 8 was a finalist in 11 different categories, one of them being "Excellence in Government Programming" or "Station of the Year." The staff of Arvada Media Services and KATV walked away with three first place, five second place and three third place finishes, including the 2nd place award for excellence in government programming.
Our top three winners were, Arvada Insights with Mayor Marc Williams, Veteran's Voices and Jefferson County Insights (WIC.)
