Medical Marijuana Dispensary Owner Arrested $1 Million Worth of Marijuana Seized

On December 7, 2011, Dimitry Genzer, age 30, the owner of Cannabis and Co., a medical marijuana dispensary, and a co-defendant, Joseph Daniel Alejo, age 28, were arrested by members of the West Metro Drug Task Force.  During the arrests, the task force seized 150 pounds of high-grade marijuana.

The task force, with the assistance of the Denver Police Department’s Narcotics Bureau, began the investigation in November 2011 when it was learned that Genzer was involved in the illegal sales of large quantities of high-grade marijuana.

Further investigation led to a search of a storage locker in Lakewood which produced another 23 pounds of high-grade marijuana.

A total of approximately 175 pounds of high grade marijuana was seized in this case, with a street value of approximately $1,000,000.00.

The State of Colorado’s Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division is investigating Cannabis and Co. and further actions against the dispensary are pending.

Genzer and Alejo were booked into the Jefferson County Jail under suspicion of distribution of marijuana in excess of 100 pounds, and conspiracy to distribute marijuana in excess of 100 pounds.

Both charges are Class 3 felonies. Both suspects bonded out on December 8, 2011. Genzer’s bond was $25,000.00 and Alejo’s bond was $75,000.00.

Their next court date is scheduled for December 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
