The June 10, 2010 minutes were approved with a correction to the Jeffco Accountant's name from Tim to Tom Hoffman.
Treasurer's Report - Nancy Mayer
Nancy would like to change banks because the current one is not filling CPAAA needs. Normalee requested a bank with branch locations for easy access. Nancy will do some research on a new bank and present her findings at the August board meeting.
Nancy submitted a financial report with an ending balance of $4200.59 and an Alumni-Membership Roster indicating 100 members. Normalee turned in 11 membership renewals. Nancy will drop those members from the August roster who did not renew their membership for 2010. The financial reports were approved.
Chair's Report - Normalee Lee
Deb Hamilton reported that she had gone to the hospital to visit Jentry Kendall after his surgery and he was doing very well and planned to be at the next board meeting.
Normalee was pleased to announce that 26 applications were submitted for the new Arvada Search Team.
The Teen CPA is being held July 19-23 and CPAAA is to provide lunch on Wednesday, 7/21 from 11:30 to 12:30 for approximately 20 attendees and speakers. Pat and Lloyd Ferguson agreed to take care of purchasing and setting up the sandwiches, chips, cookies and water for the class participants. The graduation will be on Friday, 7/23 from 3 to 4pm in the Council Chambers Room. CPAAA will present information regarding our organization.
Normalee suggested CPAAA purchase and maintain a supply of paper goods for future events.
Normalee recommended Diane Denker as Board Member-at-Large to replace Gary Busch, who resigned on June 12th. The term would be through 2011 and fill the position only, not Gary's board responsibilities.
Nancy Mayer made the motion that Diane fill the position, Deb Hamilton seconded that motion and all approved.
Board elections are coming up in November and Normalee would like to canvas/recruit CPAAA members for open positions and establish a format for interested members to submit their bio information. Maureen agreed to head up a sub-committee and Nancy Mayer said she would help.
Nancy suggested a mass mailing to past CPA alumni dating back to 2005 to re-introduce them to the current organization by way of the newsletter and website. Nancy will work with Marilyn Maring on a strategy and time frame.
The latest CPAAA newsletter was posted on line 7/8 and Normalee will send an e-mail to all members reminding them to access the link.
Vice Chair's Report - Lloyd Ferguson
Lloyd submitted a 2010 CPAAA Volunteer Hours report as of June. Nancy Mayer asked that Doug Gibbs be added to the roster for his new member package time. Deb Hamilton suggested we include the time spent on the 2011 National Conference; Joan Campbell can provide the volunteer hours.
PD Liaison Report - Officer Pat Claar (covering for Sgt. AJ DeAndrea)
Officer Claar talked about the concerns of upcoming potential Colorado Tax Reform, amendments 60 & 61 and proposition 101. He expressed APD's concern that most constituents don't truly understand the ramifications of the proposed tax cuts. Normalee suggested CPAAA put information in the newsletter. Joan Campbell will check with the City Manager, Susan Medina, and Chief Don Wick to see what CPAAA can do to spread the word.
2011 National Conference Update - Nancy Mayer
The contract has been signed with the Marriott guaranteeing the number of rooms and $35,000 in food and beverage. Any additional room rentals outside the conference dates will count towards the contract commitment. Nancy was also pleased to announce that on-line registration is now "live" as of July 2nd.
Normalee asked who incurs the actual loss if a national conference city loses money. Joan Campbell wasn't sure and would do some checking.
As a subject for a future meeting, Normalee would like the board to think about honoring certain CPAAA members who contribute a lot of their time and effort by paying for part of the $280 registration fee or certain seminars.

Normalee mentioned that APD is still interested in the "Bikes for Kids" program and CPAAA's $250
allocation for helmets, but needs to push back until the October/November time frame.
As a long term fundraising goal for CPAAA, Sgt. DeAndrea suggested to Normalee night vision monoculars for the APD.
