National Night Out, a community effort to reduce crime and the fear of crime in our neighborhoods, took place on Tuesday, August 4, 2009.
Residents of Arvada were asked to join Americans across the country to turn on their porch lights to turn off crime.
Hundreds of people attended various celebrations in cities and counties throughout the United States, marking the 26th annual celebration of this event. To see the scope of this celebration, go to the National Night Out home page.
The biggest National Night Out celebration event in our City was held at Arvada's Olde Town Square near Ralston Road/Olde Wadsworth on Tuesday evening. Visitors were be treated to live bands, hamburgers from the grill and super sweets.
Arvada Police Department Joined the Celebration
Members of the Arvada Police Department were on-hand including the Chief of Police, SWAT Team members and dozens of other officers celebrating National Night Out.
Other Arvada police officers attended a handful of block parties scheduled for the evening as well.
