Arvada Police Officers donned an apron and servedup heaping helpings of goodwill along with Red Robin gourmet hamburgers as part of the Tip-a-Cop event on Saturday, April 17, 2010.
All police officer tips were given to Colorado Special Olympics in support of athletes taking part in the summer games.
From noon to 8 p.m., officers from the Arvada and Denver police departments joined wait staff at the Red Robin restaurant near I-70 and Wadsworth Blvd. on April 17, 2010 to serve meals and solicit tips from patrons to benefit Special Olympics Colorado.
Each year, officers wear aprons over their uniforms and greet customers during the course of their restaurant visit. During Tip-a-Cop, the officers have an opportunity to explain the Special Olympics program and solicit donations separate from the customary wait-staff tips.
Other Red Robin restaurants and law enforcement agencies participate simultaneously throughout the state.
