Over a Dozen Carcasses of Cats and Dogs Found in Arvada Home

 

Two people are in custody as more than a dozen carcasses of cats and dogs were removed from an Arvada home in the 5400 block of Cody Street on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. 

Arvada police officers were searching for an Arvada woman with an outstanding warrant which led them to her former residence in the 5400 block of Cody Street. It’s there where they eventually found the woman wanted on the warrant as well as numerous dead animals inside the home. 

Marie Woodward (DOB: 3/31/87) was arrested on the outstanding warrant from the City of Arvada for a code enforcement violation. She is also facing numerous counts of animal cruelty, all class 1 misdemeanors that will be filed through Jefferson County. 

Joshua Vaughn (DOB: 10/26/86) is also facing numerous counts of animal cruelty, all class 1 misdemeanors that will be filed through Jefferson County. 

Thirteen dead cats and two dead dogs were located inside the home.

Two live dogs and four live cats, all in poor condition, were taken to the Table Mountain Animal Center for treatment. 

Police are investigating Woodward’s claim she was part of an animal rescue operation. 

Police are also investigating if other animals/carcasses were at Woodward's former residence in Arvada.
