Jean Cole, Teri O'Neill and Ron Trujillo
Brilliant color, sensuous forms and mysterious spaces are found in the work of these three area artists, revealing and preserving Plant Secrets. Jean Cole, award-winning watercolor artist, gets up close to irises, orchids and geraniums, making images of the flowers that are so large that they appear almost abstract. Ron Trujillo also delves into the details of plant life. His work is heavily influenced by European Old Master paintings applying layer upon layer of transparent glaze which illuminates his lush and sensual color to create the illusion of depth. Photographer Teri O'Neill actually goes inside plants with a special lens to magnify their interiors, and as she says, "to really see what you're looking at."
