Morrison, Colorado artist Keith “Scramble” Campbell is known nationally for
his paintings, so to speak, “live and in concert.” That’s right.
He actually attends a concert, sets up his easel out of the audience’s
way and executes a painting that will be completed during the course of the
performance. As he does so, he endeavors
to capture through light, color, composition, design and brushwork the inherent
feeling of the music as well as the energy with which it is performed and
staged. Over his long career Campbell has painted at nearly a thousand musical events. Patrons
at Red Rocks amphitheater see him regularly. The Arvada Center invited Campbell
to do his “Scramblevision” at the eight Music with a View concerts of the 2008-09
season and also at three theater musical productions: A Wonderful Life, Seussical and
Just So. The resultant paintings
will be on view in the Theater Lobby Gallery.
