Snowstorm Classified as Stage II Snow Emergency

Arvada, CO…Heavy snow in Arvada, accumulating to 10 inches of snow by 7:00 AM may continue throughout the day. The City of Arvada has 16 snow plows on the streets since the snow started to fall last night at 8:00 p.m. Based on the accumulation of snow, City Manager Mark Deven has classified the storm as Class II which means the City will use contractors to assist with plowing on residential streets; residents can expect a single passing lane on their street to meet the needs of emergency responders. We anticipate that the work of the contractors will be completed by Friday morning.

"We considered the fact that the next few days are heavy travel days with shopping, family visits and similar activities related to the holiday season," said City Manager Mark Deven. "We felt it was appropriate to get a jump on the removal of snow from residential streets."

A map of the regular snow plow routes is available here.

The City is currently under an accident alert. If you are involved in an accident and there are no injuries and the vehicles involved are operable, please exchange information and then report the accident to the Arvada Police Department online at www.arvadapd.org/police-online-services. By way or reminder, residents are required to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours of the cessation of snowfall.
