Arvada police made an arrest of the apparent Sunrise Bandit in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Police officers developed information leading to the identification of the suspect while canvassing the area of January’s three armed robberies.
William Spraggins (DOB: 05/13/70) of Arvada was contacted during a traffic stop in the area of 64th Avenue and Quail Street. He was taken into custody after fighting with officers. He was armed at the time of his arrest. He was jailed at the Jefferson County Jail and faces three counts of aggravated robbery and other charges.
It’s alleged Spraggins committed three armed robberies in Arvada since early January. Investigators are working with other law enforcement agencies to determine if Spraggins might be connected to other crimes.

January 7, 2012 King Soopers, 12350 W. 64th Avenue
January 12, 2012 King Soopers, 9731 W. 58th Avenue
January 23, 2012 Ralston Food Mart,10440 W. 64th Avenue
In each incident, the suspect allegedly approached clerks and demanded money after displaying a handgun.
