The Arvada Center Winter Exhibition, “Art of the State” features 160 Colorado Artists
This impressive exhibition will utilize all three of the Center’s galleries, encompassing 10,000 square feet
Arvada CO – In October 2012 Arvada Center Exhibition Manager and Curator Collin Parson and Clyfford Still Museum Director, Dean Sobel sat down together and reviewed over 1,653 entries submitted by 588 artists during a three month call for entry. The result is Art of the State: A Juried Exhibition of Colorado, a large and diverse selection of 191 pieces of art representing 160 Colorado artists; opening January 24 through March 31, it will utilize every area of the three galleries at the Arvada Center. This exhibition will also be the unveiling of a major upgrade in the Main Gallery featuring a stained concrete floor. The polished surface replaces carpet dating back many years and will be much more aesthetically pleasing for an art gallery.
"This exhibition truly demonstrates the pure talent and energy of Colorado's artistic community.” stated Collin Parson, “In no way does it represent everything going on in the state, but I think this is the closest one can get in showcasing the vibrant art scene of Colorado. I know people will be impressed by the magnitude of the exhibition.... I am." Parson went on to say "Working with Dean Sobel was a true pleasure and great educational experience for our gallery division. Having him as part of the jurying process brought an additional level of prestige and expertise to the exhibition."
Art of the State offers a vast array of both two and three dimensional art. Many of the artists are widely recognized for their work including Monica Aiello (mixed media painter), John Davenport (photographer), Mark Lunning (printmaker), Lauri Lynnxe Murphy (mixed media sculptor), Andrew Roberts-Gray (non-traditional landscapes) and Bill Vielehr (metal sculpture).
