ARVADA, CO – The Arvada Center Youth Chorale students will perform the fairy-tale musical “Cinderella” on Thursday, Aug. 12 at 5:00 p.m. in the indoor theater.
“Cinderella” is open to the public and tickets can be purchased for $1 at the door on the evening of the performance.
This summer’s performance of “Cinderella” tells the classic tale of a young girl who is left in the hands of her wicked stepmother and stepsisters when her father passes away. She is treated like a servant by her new family and when they are all invited to a big ball, Cinderella is ordered to stay behind and clean. With the help of a fairy godmother and her whimsical animal friends, Cinderella manages to make it to the ball, where she and Prince Charming fall in love.
The Youth Chorale is a musical summer camp offered by the Arvada Center. Students learn musical theater skills such as singing, dancing and acting, and also participate in making costumes, props and sets. Over a two-month period, the camp prepares students for their finale of a musical theater performance on the Center’s main stage. The camp and performance instructors are Su Coffey-Berg and Debbie Schwartz.
The Arvada Center’s Youth Chorale summer musical includes a cast of 30 local actors and singers age 8 to 17. The talented young actors will provide a theatrical adventure enabling them to show an audience the vocal skills they have learned while enrolled in music camp.
The Arvada Center is generously supported by the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). Created by Denver metro area voters in 1988, SCFD provides a consistent source of unrestricted funding to scientific and cultural organizations.
The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities is the metro area’s eighth largest cultural attraction, devoted to all aspects of the arts.
