Olde Town Arvada with its unique blend of history, eclectic shopping, vibrant night life and community events continues to increase in popularity. With the arrival of the Gold Line scheduled for 2016, the City of Arvada, along with Arvada Urban Renewal Authority (AURA) and the Regional Transportation District (RTD) recently engaged in the process of selecting a private developer for the area near the future Gold Line Station to add to Olde Town’s vibrancy and complement its character and ambiance.
After a thorough selection process, Trammell Crow Company was selected as the master developer for the site. The City’s Flour Mill lot on Grandview is the site for RTD’s transit elements, including the commuter train, regional bus and the commuter parking facilities. The Flour Mill building and pavilion will remain. Plans currently include the construction of a 400 car commuter parking garage and an eight bay regional bus facility. Arvada is considering adding up to 300 additional public parking spaces to the garage to support the area's current and future use.
Next steps include continued study of the transit elements and preliminary planning of the 9 acre transit oriented development (TOD) site located where the current RTD parking lot is located. (This is east of Vance Street, west of the Wadsworth Bypass, north of 55th Avenue and south of Grandview Avenue.) Trammell Crow will also begin meeting with local neighborhood stakeholders in its efforts to enhance Olde Town as an authentic historic community and a sustainable, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood.
