On Wednesday, April 11, 2007 the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) will be working on the railroad tracks at Wadsworth Boulevard and
The work will take place from approximately 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will require intermittent full closures of Wadsworth Boulevard for 15-20 minutes each time.
The BNSF will be constructing a railroad detour, which will allow the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to build the new railroad bridge at the intersection. The entire project constructs a
grade-separation between Wadsworth Boulevard, Grandview Avenue and the BNSF railroad.
"In order for CDOT to build the new railroad bridge without impacting train traffic, BNSF must construct this detour," said CDOT Resident Engineer John Schwab. "This railroad work should only take one day and hopefully the majority of work at Wadsworth Boulevard will be complete by the afternoon rush hour."
Impacts will be minimized as much as possible, but delays are expected
on Wadsworth Boulevard and alternate routes are strongly advised. All
lanes should reopen by 7 p.m. tomorrow and all work is weather permitting.
Hamon Contractors, Inc. is the contractor of this $22.8 million project, which will be complete by the end of August 2008. The project is funded by federal, state and City of Arvada funds.
